Dr Chan Jan Bond graduated from International Medical University with an MBBS degree in 2006. He completed his training in ophthalmology from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2015. He is a gazetted eye specialist by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and is registered under the National Specialist Register of Malaysia (NSR).
He has a sub-specialty interest in Cataract Refractive Surgery and has taken part in numerous cataract camps in Malaysia performing high volume cataract surgeries. He is also a certified trainer for cataract surgery in the Ministry of Health. Dr Chan has undergone a Cataract & Refractive observership under Dr Amir Hamid from Optegra Eye Hospital, London, United Kingdom.
Prior to joining ISEC, Dr Chan has served in the ophthalmology department of Hospital Selayang, Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban and Hospital Shah Alam. He is a regular visiting cataract surgeon at the Cataract Surgery Centre MAIWP-Hospital Selayang.
Dr Chan’s passion for telemedicine in ophthalmology has driven him to develop several medical creative innovations. His inventions include Rapid Eye Screening Test App, Auto-Cataract Detector App, Slit Lamp Adaptor and Smartphone Fundus Camera. His innovation and creativity has won many awards locally and internationally. He has won the Best Oral Presentation in the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons Conference (APACRS) in 2015, Best Video in the Film Festival in APACRS 2016 and the IMU Young Alumnus Award – Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
