Dr. Cheah M.H. is the Consultant Anaesthetist at the International Specialist Eye Centre, Kuala Lumpur. She is responsible for setting up the operating theatres at the above centre.

Dr. Cheah M.H. obtained her undergraduate Medical Degree (MBBS) from the University of Queensland, Australia in 1994. She was a Medical Officer at the Gold Coast Hospital, Queensland, before returning to Malaysia in 1996.

During her service with the Malaysian Ministry of Health from 1996 until 1999, she served as a Medical Officer in Penang Hospital, exposing to Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Anaesthesia. During this period, she completed the Part 1 of the Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) (UK) exams, despite having decided on a career in Anaesthesia.

Dr. Cheah M.H. was a registrar in Anaesthesia at the University Malaya Medical Centre from 1999 until 2003. She simultaneously obtained her Fellowship in Anaesthesia from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, and her Masters of Anaesthesiology from University Malaya. She was a Senior Registrar in Anaesthesia at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia, for 14 months during this time. Her review article on `Obesity: basic science and medical aspects relevant to anaesthetists’ was published in the peer-reviewed journal, Anaesthesia, in 2005.

She was an Anaesthetist at Hospital Selayang from 2003 until 2007. Her interest in Internal Medicine serves as an additional advantage and benefit in optimising patient care, emphasising the role of Anaesthetists as peri-operative Physicians.
