Dr Yew Chien Voon graduated from National University of Malaysia (UKM) and completed her ophthalmology specialty training at the National University of Malaysia (UKM). Dr Voon, as she is keenly known, has worked in the Oculoplastic Surgery discipline since she was a medical officer where her interest in oculoplastic surgery blossomed and after becoming an ophthalmologist, she continued to pursue advanced sub-specialty training in orbit, oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery for both adult and children locally. Dr Voon completed a three-year Oculoplastic Sub-specialty Fellowship Training and was awarded the Certification of Completion of Fellowship Training in Oculoplastic Surgery by the Ministry of Health of Malaysia.
Dr Voon is a fully registered specialist with the National Specialist Register (NSR). She has worked as an Oculoplastic Surgeon in the biggest and busiest hospital in Malaysia, Hospital Kuala Lumpur where she spent time refining her skills in general ophthalmology surgery as well as complex oculoplastic, orbit and lacrimal surgery. She has performed many successful cataract surgeries and managed many multidisciplinary medical and surgical cases pertaining to orbit, eyelid and lacrimal diseases.
Dr Voon is well liked by her patients for her soft-spoken, caring and friendly personality and has received many good compliments from patients and colleagues alike. She is always committed to providing a holistic management for her patient.
Dr Voon has strong commitment to education and training and has published in peer-reviewed journals. She has also been invited to present at various ophthalmology conferences. She actively participates in public screening programmes for cataract and diabetic eye diseases. She is involved in clinical teaching for paramedics, medical students and oculoplastic fellows.
